Saying goodbye to Port Orford, Oregon

It’s time to move on so I’m leaving Port Orford, Oregon next week. It’s been a glorious summer here: The weather has been amazing – sunny and  around 55-65 degrees almost every day. I’ve made some new friends at the Camp Blanco RV Park – I’ll miss them and Ted will too! He’s really come out of his shell here – pardon the beach pun. He’s more comfortable around people now and he’s LOVED running on the beach and playing with other dogs. I hope it won’t be too hard on him to move again but I want to miss the rains that will start soon – think deluge for days and up to 90 mph winds. *cack

I was hoping to take a week off from work this month and explore Oregon more but I had to buy a new computer and that took all my spending money. I’ll just have to do that when I come back to the West Coast in the, not too distant, future.

While I didn’t get many pictures of the wildlife here I did manage to see: a mother bear and her cub, a zillion deer, lots of raccoons, a whale, a few porpoise, couple of sea lions, a killer whale, elk – including a cow and her calf, a skunk (a near miss for Teddy), osprey, hawks, many murders of crows, and watching Ted chase after squirrels, rabbits, and eating the occasional vole is always fun. *another cack

Here are just a few pictures taken at “Dog Beach”  – near the port – home to the only “dolly dock” on the West Coast, where vessels are launched and retrieved using the cranes and they’re housed on homemade dollies when not fishing. There’s also 1 of Teddy at Cape Blanco State Park hoping he can hide so he doesn’t have to leave and the other one is of him ignoring the sheep, but they’re certainly not ignoring him.

If you want to see something funny, watch this video of Teddy digging up a critter hole using more than just his paws. That’s my boy!

This is Teddy’s friend Emmy Lou.
